Dr. Kelly Drover, BSc, Dip. DH, DDS

Dr. Drover graduated from Acadia University with a BSc (Biology/ Psychology) in 1995, followed by a diploma in Dental Hygiene from Dalhousie University in 2000. After practicing as a dental hygienist for two years she decided to fulfill her desire to become a dentist and graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2006. During her academic studies merits included the JD Maclean scholarship, greatest proficiency in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and the Clinical Pediatric Dentistry awards. She also was first place recipient of the Dalhousie Table Clinic Research Award and competed on a national level.

Dr. Drover is originally from Lewisporte, Newfoundland, however, began her dental career in Nova Scotia. While practicing at Trimac Dental Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dr. Drover also provided after hours emergency services for Dalhousie’s dental school. She returned to Newfoundland in 2010 where she practiced at Stavanger Dental for 12 years before following her dream to open her own clinic, Kelly Drover Dental in 2022.

Dr. Drover is committed to providing top quality comprehensive general dentistry services to her patients. She pursues a wide range of continuing education courses, through highly recognized institutions, in order to provide the best possible care.

She practices every aspect of general and family dentistry with special interests in cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign orthodontic treatment and Implantology. She is a strong believer in preventative dentistry and is committed to helping her patients maintain their smiles throughout their lifetime.

Dr. Drover completed her certification in Invisalign in 2017 and has been an active member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Association since 2010, the Canadian Dental Association since 2006 and Spear Club since 2021.

In 2021, Dr. Drover was honoured to be voted in as Platinum and Top Choice Dentist through St. John’s Community Votes– an official community voting awards platform. She prides herself on caring immensely for the well-being of her patients. She is devoted to providing excellent clinical care and thoroughly enjoys taking the time to get to know her patients and their families.

As a mother of three children, much of her time is spent supporting her children and their wide array of interests. Dr. Drover and her husband Chris enjoy camping, entertaining family and friends and travelling - especially if there is a great concert or musical to be seen.

Dr. Alison Papirny

Dr. Alison Papirny was born in the small town of High Level, Alberta. She pursued her Bachelor of Science degree through Grande Prairie Regional Collage, and then completing it at the University of Alberta. Graduating with distinction, she majored in Biological Sciences, and minored in psychology. In 2009 she was accepted into the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the University of Alberta.

In her third year of dental school, she was granted the opportunity to take part in a dentistry exchange program in Dresden, Germany. And in 2017 she audited a week long course focusing on Forensic Odontology (focusing on identification training).

Her interests lie in all areas of dentistry, but she is especially excited to be working with digital dentistry at the office. Alison is a firm believer in continuing education, ensuring the best quality of care for her patients.

Alison met her husband (a Labradorian), in Alberta. Once she visited the island she fell in love with the people and never looked back. She has been practicing in Newfoundland & Labrador since 2013. She spends most of her off time in the woods, where you can find her quading and hiking with her husband and dog Ripley.

OFFICE MANAGEMENT

Kylie Pelley

Office Manager/Level II Dental Assistant

Kylie was born and raised in the east end of St. John’s, NL. After graduating high school in 2007, she completed multiple years of study at Memorial University before finding her passion for dentistry and Dental Assisting. Kylie graduated with Honours from the Dental Assisting program at Keyin College in 2013, and was also the recipient of the Dr. Kavanagh Award for Clinical Excellence. She has been working in the east end of St. John’s ever since. Kylie is going into her 11th year of working with Dr. Kelly Drover. Kylie has a strong passion for infection control, pharmacology, orthodontics/Invisalign, and continuing education.

When she's not at the dental office, Kylie is also an established makeup artist. She loves spending her free time with her family and her english setter, Molly.

ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM

Erin Patterson

Administrative Assistant

Erin is originally from Markland, although she has spent the last 15 years in the St. John's area.

After graduating from the Dental Assisting program at Keyin College, Erin has gained almost 15 years experience in the dental field, most of which was in the administrative side of the practice. Having spent almost 10 of those years working with Dr. Drover in the past, joining the Kelly Drover Dental team was a no brainer.

In her spare time you will find Erin reading, cooking, or refinishing old pieces of furniture. Although most of her time is spent with her greatest loves, her children Cohen and Sadie, and her husband Justin.

Cherie Seward-Drover

Administrative Assistant

Cherie is originally from Gooseberry Cove, NL. After graduating from High School, she moved to St. John’s and completed the Dental Assisting program at the Career Academy.

Cherie has been working in the dental field for 30+ years.

In her spare time, you can find her hiking and spending time with her family.

DENTAL ASSISTANTS

Caitlin Bartlett

Level II Dental Assistant

Caitlin was born and raised in a small town called Gunners Cove at the tip of the Northern Peninsula. When she later developed an interest in dentistry, she decided to move to St.John’s to begin her studies. She graduated the Dental Assisting program at Keyin College in 2021 with honours.

Caitlin has a passion for patient care and ensuring everyone who walks through the door feels at ease. She stays current with her continuing education to help her patients maintain their best dental health. Although her favourite part of the job is interacting with patients, she also enjoys cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery and radiology.

In her spare time, you can find her attending concerts, baking and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys travelling, visiting beaches and trying out the next best restaurants.

Kelyn Lake

Level II Dental Assistant

Kelyn grew up in a small community on the Burin Peninsula, and recently moved to St. John’s to pursue her career as a Dental Assistant. She graduated with Honours from the Dental Assisting Program at Keyin College in 2022.Kelyn has a strong passion for dentistry, especially when it comes to Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Oral Pathology and Continuing Education. She loves helping patients overcome their fear of the dentist, and making them more confident with their smiles.

When she’s not working, Kelyn travels to her hometown most weekends. While at home, you can find her playing darts, fishing, going on bike rides and going on road trips. Overall, she enjoys spending time with her grandparents, her partner Jason and their two cats – Archie and Beauzo!

Amber Preston

Level II Dental Assistant

Amber grew up the first 17 years of her life in Twillingate, NL, spending her childhood on the ocean with a family of fishermen. Amber was greatly involved in the musical scene for the community, known for singing in her band and for local weddings. Amber has always been passionate about helping others.

During high school, Amber started in the medical field with volunteering with seniors at the hospital in Twillingate. After completing high school, she attended Keyin College and completed the Level II Dental Assisting program. After completing her schooling and working in St. John’s for a few years, she decided to move to Alberta and continue her education there – allowing her to practice in Alberta for several years.

After many visits back home to Newfoundland in 2020, Amber decided it was time to live a little closer to what matters most – family – and she moved home with her son who was starting Kindergarten that year – taking her chances with those salt water joys.

Jenelle Gosine

Level II Dental Assistant

Jenelle was born and raised in Portugal Cove, NL. She took an interest in dental and graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Keyin College in 2013 with Honours and has since then completed her Orthodontic module.

She is married to her husband Don, and they have two little girls together - Lila and Mia - who are, and always will be, her greatest blessing and accomplishment. They fill her life with so much love and joy. As a family, they enjoy camping and checking out all the ice cream shops together.

In her free time, you can find her tackling any DIY projects, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She loves the outdoors, watching sunsets, music festivals and just the little things in life and always sees the best in everyone.

Desiree Brake

Dental Hygienist

Desiree grew up in the west end of St. John’s, where she graduated from high school in 2017. Following graduation, Desiree studied at Memorial University for several years. She began working in a dental clinic, which inspired her to pursue her career in Dental Hygiene.

Being passionate about oral hygiene care, she attended and graduated with honours from the Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries in North York, ON. She continues to enroll herself in professional education courses to ensure she is providing her patients the best quality care.

In her free time, Desiree loves to travel, go hiking, and spend time with her family and friends – especially her partner Aaron and their 2 huskies, Nala and Steeler!

Kourtney Canning

Dental Hygienist

Kourtney is originally from Cottlesville, NL. After graduating High School, she moved to Mississauga, Ontario, where she graduated from the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene with Honours. She is focused on providing her patients with optimal oral health care. Her goal is to provide patient comfort to ensure and enjoyable experience!

In her spare time, you can find Kourtney spending time with her family and her two pups!
